Let’s get real: the past six months were a whirlwind — fun, hectic, and honestly, not as productive as I had hoped when it came to painting miniatures.
A Look Back: What Happened?
In the final quarter of 2024, I made some progress on my miniature projects, but nowhere near what I envisioned. Fast forward through Q1 2025, and… well, not a single model was finished. The reality? Life happened — both the fun kind and the chaotic kind.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
A sudden move to a new apartment
Two vacations — one to Disneyland and another to Las Vegas
The holiday season in full swing
Increased workload at my job
Put all that together and yeah — my painting desk didn’t see much action.
Reflecting on My Hobby Goals
This break in momentum gave me a chance to evaluate my “Finish the Unfinished” projects. Instead of pushing myself to do it all, I’m prioritizing wisely for this quarter.
Staying on the workbench:
- The Giantess from Reaper Miniatures
- The three remaining heroes from the Dragons Don’t Share (2013 Edition) diorama set
On pause (for now):
- The Elves for Kings of War – as cool as they are, the sheer number makes them unmanageable with my current schedule. I’m shelving them for a time when I have more breathing room.

So… What Do I Replace It With?
To keep things realistic and increase the odds of finishing something, I’m swapping the large elf project for a single, manageable miniature: the Town Square terrain from King Games.
It’s a piece I started nearly a year ago with minimal progress — just a zenithal highlight, the beginnings of the stonework, and a bit of the roof. That makes it the perfect candidate to bring back into focus: it’s already prepped, it’s contained, and it scratches that terrain-painting itch. The style comes from their beautifully detailed Dunkeldorf Miniatures range — perfect for immersive town scenes.

The Plan Moving Forward
April may have slipped away already, but that just means it’s time to dive in with purpose.
First up on the painting table: the three remaining heroes from Dragons Don’t Share.
If I get them done in between other life tasks; I’ll call it a win. Everything beyond that? Just gravy on top.
As always — paint fearlessly. It’s just paint, and you can fix any mistakes.
