During Thanksgiving while waiting for the turkey to cook, I browsed through Facebook. I came across a Black Friday sale involving Tomb Guardian miniatures. Instantly I clicked the link. Why? In a word – Amazons. Specifically their line of Amazons.
During late 2019, Tomb Guardian Miniatures brought the Amazons to Kickstarter. At that time I could not justify spending the money on more minis. However, they had a stupendous deal for Black Friday this year. About five minutes later the I completed the order.
Flash forward to Thursday of this week – a package arrived and inside was all the Amazons and one extra friend. So I decided to do a small review on the models.
First off, the miniatures came in a long white box. Pretty nondescript with a simple shipping label. It was well sealed with packing tape across the long length of the box.
Opening the box reveal the models in clear clam shell blisters to vastly reduce movement/damage. Great. One small problem – they came with out cards to tell you what model they contain. Not a huge issue in of itself. It becomes more of a problem if I wanted to share the model name to a friend or sell it after painting it. Why? Because they are not readily available. The best one can do is tell people to look it up online.
The miniatures, however, are fantastic. Cast in white (non-lead) pewter they have few mold lines, flashing, or deficits. It’s very hard to avoid these; so minimal amounts means excellent care went into their production. The detail is clear, and the designs well thought out. I really love the fact that multiple body types are presented, as well as a range of ages. Some appear to be in the teens and the oldest appears to be at least 50-60.
I absolutely love these models and would highly recommend them to others. They do have some Dwarven, Hobgoblin, and Undead models that look stunning as well. I’m hoping to do a post on the older shaman Amazon a bit later. Till then happy painting!!
